Season 5

Season 5

This season was significantly affected by the production of the first X-Files feature. Thus it is technically the season with the smallest ratio of original episodes produced. As a result, for some fans, the season has a less balanced range of episodes. Jumping between a small percentage of stand alones, dramas, satires, and mythology, and yet the season broke ground by bringing in such celebrity writers as Steven King, as well as the team of William Gibson and Tom Maddox. The season also featured some of the most beloved episodes in all of fandom. This season was the foundation for the demise of many of the major players within the infamous Syndicate–a threat from within that doubled the threat from without, as stated by Mr. Carter. It also introduced us to such important characters as Marita Covarrubias, Jeffrey and Cassandra Spender, and Gibson Praise. The season was the end of the Vancouver production era, and the start of the Los Angeles era. The first five seasons brought about a legacy that the future production crews and future cast would have to live up to, a legacy that was built on innovation.
