Season 6

Season 6

After the release and the relative success of the feature, Fight The Future, and once the production moved to Los Angeles, the show moved forward, thus reflected in the tour de force ambition of the first dozen episodes. A sizable pool of talent was brought in, bringing new perspectives and directions. The season brought about the nearly full demise of the Syndicate, not withstanding Krycek and the Cigarette-Smoking Man who was now identified as C.B.G. Spender. Mulder's femme fatale Diana Fowley was brought more into the forefront, as well as the adversarial Assistant Director Alvin Kersh, and the lecherous Morris Fletcher. That pool of talent included Ed Asner, Lily Tomlin, Michael McKean, Bruce Campbell, the reprise of Darren McGavin's Arthur Dales, and Andrew Robinson. That pool of talent also included, aside from the trifecta of Gilligan, Shiban, and Spotnitz, such writers as Jeffrey Bell, and David Amann. This season was also the last season that director Rob Bowman would be so heavily involved, as he would go onto to direct other feature films. And of course, David Duchovny wrote and directed the first of several episodes for the series. While the season dealt with its share of controversies, more would be around the corner...
